A Groovy 70s Wedding

If you are looking to add a little bit of groovy fun into your wedding day, why not flash back to the land of disco and bell-bottom pants. A 70s inspired wedding can include hints of nostalgia along the way or a full blown trip down memory lane.

A seventies-inspired wedding gown is floor length and relatively simple, with a dust ruffle bottom and billowy sleeves. You can top off the look by foregoing the traditional veil for a floppy, white hat. Having trouble imagining it? Think Farrah Fawcett circa 1073. If you really want to go all out, encourage guests to pull out their fanciest seventies attire, complete with pants suits and platform shoes.

You can really highlight your theme at the reception venue. A strobe light is a must for the dance floor, where your guests can “Do the Hustle” and slow drag to the BeeGees as they ask “How Deep is Your Love” Have a ball choosing your party favors. Pet rocks will leave your guests laughing. All you need are standard garden rocks. You can get them by the bag at a garden shop or go exploring for them on your own. Personalize these “pets” by giving each of them a unique name. Mood rings are also great decade-inspired gifts, as are music CDs your favorite 70s songs.
